What is the Palio dei Terzieri?

The Palio of Città della Pieve is a historical re-enactment that takes place every year in the second half of August (this year from August 11 to 24, 2025). The three districts of the town – Castello, Borgo Dentro, and Casalino – compete in parades, medieval games, theatrical performances, and the spectacular “Caccia del Toro” (Bull Hunt), an archery contest that recreates the Renaissance atmosphere.

The village transforms into a large open-air stage: decorated streets, hundreds of people in period costumes, open taverns serving traditional Umbrian dishes, music, and a magical old-world atmosphere.
